No human figures appear in Liesbeth van Ginneken’s paintings, yet their presence can be felt. They are materialized in the pieces of furniture and objects that fill the spaces. Van Ginneken makes a strong appeal to our associative powers, and she accomplishes her mission.
Her interdisciplinary artprojects as ‘Pieces of Art’ (1998) and Going Dutch (2001, Rotterdam Cultural Capital of Europe), highlight her conceptual and organisational skills. The combinations of these skills are unusual and in this case the recipe for her success.
