Manfred Poor – The abyss
For when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you, the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, meaning that all evil and darkness will eventually find a way into the self looking for it.
In this artwork I refuse to see only darkness, when gazing into an abyss. I see light, I see movement and graze. I see colors, which might not even be there. I see beauty that is sometimes hidden in darkness, in that case, in the depths of an ocean.
The artwork creates a world that might or not exist. Gazing into the abyss, everything is possible.
